THE SILENT BATTLE
For decades the true scale of the psychological wounds suffered by soldiers and veterans has never been recognised.
Fiona Lloyd-Davies started investigating what treatment was available to veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, after her husband, a retired Colonel, found it difficult to access treatment for his PTSD sustained while serving with the UN in Bosnia at the height of the war in 1992.
These portraits were taken during the making of the film. It was broadcast on BBC2 Newsnight on 04/09/2014.

Shaki grew up fighting to survive on the streets of Kinshasa to compete as one of Congo's first professional female wrestlers. Today she's created a refuge for girls escaping rapists, pimps, and thugs.. Taken over two years, these intimate portraits show a woman fighting to protect her child and other girls from the violent streets of Kinshasa.

THE FORGOTTEN WOMEN
In October 2001 I travelled to Shabunda, a town deep in the equitorial forests of Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It was the height of the war and the town was surrounded on three sides. At that time the medical emergency charity Medicins Sans Frontier estimated that as many as 70% of the women there had been raped. I went and interviewed and took images of the women I found there.
In 2005 I returned to find out what had happened to the women I had photographed four years earlier.
